Standard Trading Terms & Conditions
Rate is subject to final confirmation and verification of the dimensions and weights.
Cargo must be suitably packaged to withstand the road conditions and to ensure the safe securing of the load without damaging the load.
Goods are handled and transported at “OWNER’S RISK”. Insurance may be arranged on your behalf, but our insurance clauses still apply.
Mozambique Final clearance: must be arranged prior to loading. Intertek inspection must be arranged prior to loading in JHB. Contra Marca to be available on loading.
Zimbabwe & Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC): Pre-clearance of customs imports and Bureau Veritas Certificate to be available prior to loading.
Insurance
All services and goods handled and transported by Power Freight (Pty) Ltd are done so at owner’s risk and we do not accept any liability for the insurance for such goods or services. It is further stated that all goods which are transported, handled, or stored on behalf of our clients, should have adequate insurance cover on a “door to door at destination” basis, and should include all freight and customs costs. Such cover shall be provided by the clients/owner of the goods. . Insurance facilities can be arranged on your behalf on request, and this should be agreed to in writing prior to loading. All excesses and premiums are for your account and Power Freight (Pty) Ltd repudiates any and all liability in the respect of claims being rejected for whatever reason and shall not be passed onto Power Freight (Pty) Ltd or any of its subcontractors.
All Cargo carried is subject to our Terms and Conditions, which supersedes all other Terms and Conditions, which may be in place.
All prices quoted are based on current running and related costs, subject to statutory changes, adjustment to suit market trends, including exchange rate hikes and tariffs, without prior notice.
Excludes export clearance fee, acquittal fee and customs inspection and supervision charges. Rates exclude any import clearing, taxes, duties or surcharges applicable at final destination. Importer to nominate import agent at the entry border.
We are not responsible for breakages, theft or leakages whilst in storage or transit. Demurrage will be charged on delays at loading / offloading sites and delays at border posts.
Power Freight makes use of sub-contractors to carry loads.
Payment Terms
(SUBJECT TO CREDIT APPROVAL)
- Payment on IN GAUGE LOADS – payment to be made on 14 days on scanned POD.
- Payment on loads to DRC, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi – 50% on loading & balance of payment to be made on 7 days on scanned POD. These payment terms may also apply to other destinations required/agreed to from time to time.
- Payment on ABNORMAL LOADS – 50% on loading & balance of payment to be made on 7 days on scanned POD

Rates quoted are based on non-hazardous cargo unless otherwise specified. Under no circumstances will Power Freight (Pty) Ltd be held responsible or liable for any and all spill clean up services, costs or third party claims related to this in respect of any accident or incident that may occur in the transportation of hazardous goods on our vehicles or any appointed subcontractor vehicles of Power Freight (Pty) Ltd from collection to delivery points – this remains the responsibility of the client/owner of goods.
According to SARS requirements, every entry which is cleared through customs must be accompanied by a clearing instruction. Please ensure that every load coming through the border has a completed clearing instruction, customs will reject any file which has no clearing instructions. Any fines imposed due to no clearing instruction or incorrect information will be for your account.
Loading of cargo / vehicles as quoted above constitutes acceptance of all the Terms and Conditions above.
